Thousands of manufacturing jobs and the future of smaller suppliers are under threat because of a Ministry of Defence funding shortfall, says the chairman of the industry’s senior trade body.

Mike Turner, chairman of the Defence Industries Council and former chief executive of Britain’s top defence manufacturer BAE, warned thousands of jobs would be lost in the next 18 months.
